The Margate, Kent, community is grieving the loss of four-year-old Zaahir Jan, who died in a bus accident outside Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother
Hospital on August 7, 2025. Zaahir had been visiting his grandmother when the collision occurred near the hospital’s A&E entrance shortly after 4 p.m.
Kent Police said he had just left the hospital when the accident happened. Emergency crews rushed him back inside for treatment, but he tragically
passed away. His family has been informed, and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to aid the investigation.
Zaahir, the youngest of five siblings, was remembered by his mother, Azaria, as “our sweet funny boy with a cheeky smile that
could make anyone’s heart full.” The tragedy comes less than a week after the death of a close relative, adding to the family’s grief.
Friends, neighbors, and strangers have shared condolences and tributes online, describing the love and joy Zaahir
brought to those around him. A fundraising campaign has been launched to help with funeral costs, with donations pouring
in from the community. The family expressed deep gratitude for the compassion and support shown during this heartbreaking time.
