Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital’ Star, Dies at 85.Denise Alexander, best known as Dr. Lesley Webber on General Hospital,

shared the news, honoring Alexander for breaking barriers as one of daytime TV’s first female doctors. “It meant so much to have
her reprise her role in recent years,” he said, extending condolences to her loved ones.Born November 11, 1939, in New York City,
Alexander started performing in radio dramas at age six. By her teens, she had over 2,500 radio
and 500 TV appearances. She made her film debut in Crime in the Streets (1956) at 14.

Alexander starred on Days of Our Lives as Susan Martin (1966–1973) before joining General Hospital in 1973. As Dr. Lesley Webber,
her dramatic love triangle with Rick Webber and Monica Quartermaine helped propel the show’s popularity. She earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1976.
She later appeared on Another World (1986–1989) and returned to GH in recurring roles through 2021.
Outside acting, Alexander was also a talented photographer and producer, working with her husband, director Richard A. Colla.
